Philip Bankole

Mr. Philip Olatunde Bankole, Managing Director/Chief Executive of ENARMAC Nigeria Limited, is an environmental scientist as well as a public administrator, having spent about 35 years in the public service of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. He obtained his B. Sc degree in Forestry from the premier University of Ibadan, Nigeria in 1981, a Postgraduate Diploma in Environmental Management and Protection from the Technical University of Dresden, Germany (under the UNEP/UNESCO International
Postgraduate Training Programme on Environment) in 1982, and a Master's degree in Agricultural Extension from the University of Ibadan in 1986.
Mr. Bankole commenced his public career as a Forest Officer Grade-II in January 1984 and retired from the Public Service as the Federal Director of Forestry, Federal Ministry of Environment, in December 2016 after years of meritorious service. During his public service life, Mr. Bankole was engaged in various environmental and sustainable development issues at local, national and international levels through active participation in conferences, workshops, and seminars in many countries across the world. He has also demonstrated exceptionally good leadership qualities on many strategic assignments, including his position as Secretary of the Presidential Implementation Committee on Ogoniland chaired by the then Rev. Fr. Mathew Hassan Kukah (now Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese in Nigeria), which produced the UNEP's report to guide the remediation process in oil-impacted sites in Ogoniland, Rivers State of Nigeria.

On the international scene, Mr. Bankole was the National Focal Point for the United Nations Global Environmental Information Network, popularly known as UNEP/INFOTERRA, from 1994 till he retired in 2016. He was also the National Desk Officer for the African Ministerial Conference on Environment and an active member of the United Nations Expert Group on Environmental Statistics. Also, Mr. Bankole is a Regional Ambassador for the Technical University of Dresden, Germany, by virtue of which he could provide necessary guidance to Nigerian students and researchers willing to pursue their academic career at the Technical University of Dresden. Thus our Company maintains a very good relationship with the Technical University of Dresden.

His pet project: “Community Herbal Heritage Programme" which he initiated shortly after the adoption of the Convention on Biological Diversity at the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED) held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in June 1992, remains a veritable example of community participation in forest and biodiversity conservation in Nigeria till date.
Following his retirement from the Public Service, Mr. Bankole has established his own Consultancy Firm – ENARMAC Nigeria Limited – as a means of keeping him actively engaged in natural resources and environmental management for sustainable development.

Mr. Bankole is happily married to Mrs. Christiana Bola Bankole (Nee Faniyan) and the marriage is blessed with four wonderful children.
